CW RealTime: 2008 BMW HP2 Sport - First Ride

First riding impressions of BMW’s sportiest Boxer yet.

2008 BMW HP2 Sport - First Ride

At the Paris Motorcycle Show this year, BMW tempted us with the unveiling of its third HP-series motorcycle, the HP2 Sport. Unlike the HP2 Enduro and HP2 Megamoto, the Sport is a hardcore sportbike, based on the factory roadracer that had a pretty good showing in the World Endurance Championship this year.

With 130 horsepower and weighing-in at a claimed dry weight of 397 pounds, the HP2 Sport is the lightest and fastest BMW Boxer-Twin built to date. And since the racetrack is its native environment, BMW invited us to try it out at the curvaceous 3.3-mile-long Ascari “Race Resort” in southern Spain. Executive Editor Mark Hoyer packed his leathers and headed over, and he’s on the ground now to tell you all about the new bike.

Be sure to check in to our forum frequently; we’ll be posting updates, video and photos as Mark sends them in!
