Kawasaki Ninja 250R: $3999
This junior Ninja has stood the test of time. It was first sold in the U.S. way back in 1986 and is now in its third generation. The latest model, updated in 2008, has a 249cc parallel-Twin engine, a six-speed gearbox and styling that mimics that of its bigger Ninja stablemates. With a claimed 375-pound wet weight and a reasonable 30.5-inch seat height, the Ninja is a great choice for riders of all skill levels and a wide range of sizes. Don’t think it’s a legit sportbike? Go to any local club roadrace and you’ll find a “lightweight” grid packed with 250 Ninjas.
