MV Agusta GP 500

Everything old is new again.

MV Agusta GP 500

In addition to their great contributions to the development of the new 675 F3, HRT engineers Ezio and Maurizio Mascheroni and Enrico Sironi created a perfect copy of Giacomo Agostini’s world-title-winning three-cylinder GP 500. Every detail is perfect because Sironi was a member of the legendary MV Agusta technical team and still has copies of all the original drawings. He also is the director of the MV Agusta museum in Cascina Costa. The trio duplicated the molds for the sand-cast aluminum and magnesium engine components using the same alloys as the originals and machined them to identical specifications. They also replicated the 35mm Ceriani fork and 230mm four-shoe front drum brake. I didn’t dare ask how big the financial investment was or the number of man-hours involved.
