Perhaps in comic book circles it's a well-known fact, but we didn't know Captain America has been riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles since 1941. That's pretty cool. And it's a trend that continues today with the announcement that the new Harley Street 750 has a starring role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a movie from Marvel LLC that made its Hollywood premiere yesterday and is scheduled for wide release in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on April 4.
Fans who attended the special Hollywood event got to see a total of six Harley Street 750s each get ridden up to the event by special S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Also, one of the Street 750s was autographed by all the stars of the film, including Chris Evans, who returns as the muscular superhero and was given the bike by Harley to donate to his favorite charity: the Concord Youth Theatre.
While it might be wise for us to talk to this group of young thespians in Massachusetts about borrowing the Street for a week of proper testing (and a run on the Cycle World dyno), we hope the new 750 has a prominent role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. For two reasons: 1) It will expose the bikes to legions of young people, those buyers that Harley is targeting, and 2) It will give us a better look at this all-new entry-level Harley, which is the most significant new model from Milwaukee since the V-Rod.
Ever since the EICMA show in Milan last November, where Harley made a tremendous splash introducing these hugely important machines, The Motor Company has been rather quiet about these all-new models, which we need to ride soon. In the meantime, enjoy these latest photos of the first all-new Harley in a long time.
