If your loved ones think that all motorcycles are dangerous, just take them to watch someone ride the Globe of Death—they’ll never give you a hard time about your 20-minute commute again. But what if you did actually end up locked inside this giant steel-mesh hamster ball? How do you ride around inside this thing without turning it into a giant spherical cheese grater—where you end up as the cheese?
GET THE RIGHT BIKE Most Globe of Death riders use 100cc dirtbikes. Whatever you do, don't get conned into trying this on your own machine.
PICK THE RIGHT SPEED The globe is all about keeping a consistent speed. At first, try out some small circles, working your way up to full horizontal loops, and then full vertical loops.
USE PERIPHERAL VISION Veteran globe riders will tell you they concentrate on one point—like the head of the swimsuit-clad model in the center of the globe—and watch everything else out of the corners of their eyes.
WORK WITH OTHER RIDERS The only thing crazier than riding in the globe by yourself is riding in it with another bike or two. If you do, visualize yourself on a merry-go-round, always keeping the other rider (or riders) the same distance from you.
