Fresh on the heels of Canadian Kawasaki Motors announcing that it will sell 30 2015 ZX-14R Limited Edition motorcycles comes word that Kawasaki Motors USA will sell 300 versions of the same bike, individually numbered and painted the exact shade of Firecracker Red and Metallic Graystone seen on the 1984 Ninja. In addition to gold pinstriping and gold calipers, this special ZX-14R is fitted with 30th Anniversary logos on the fairing sides and a numbered badge on the gas tank.
"Kawasaki is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Ninja with a limited-edition model of the 2015 ZX-14R ABS," explains Brad Puetz, media relations supervisor. "With only 300 production units available, this 30th anniversary edition is highly desirable. Each example is individually numbered and features a two-tone paint scheme inspired by none other than the king of the streets in 1984, the Ninja 900R."
According to Kawasaki, sales of the 2015 Kawasaki ZX-14R Limited Edition begin at dealers on Tuesday, July 15, at 9 a.m. PDT, and orders will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis via a time and date stamp. Price for the potent 1441cc machine with the monocoque aluminum frame and rider-selectable power modes is $15,899. Kawasaki, of note, is requiring a $1,000 non-refundable deposit on this Ninja, which remains one of the quickest and fastest production bikes in the world.
Kawasaki says the bike’s development team looked at updating the original colors with modern interpretations of red and gray, but none looked as good as the original hues. Although the 30 Canadian bikes look just like the 300 for the US and Latin America, the two production runs have separate numbers. Also, these limited-edition ZX-14s won’t be available in any other market in the world, helping to make each a collectible.
