The BMW R 1250 RS is the Bavarian brand’s sportiest twin-cylinder motorcycle. It’s powered by a 1,254cc air-/liquid-cooled boxer engine employing ShiftCam variable valve timing for a flat torque spread and smooth power delivery; BMW claims 136 hp at 7,750 rpm and 105 pound-feet of torque at 6,250 rpm. The same package is also used in the R 1250 GS/A and R 1250 GS adventure bikes, R 1250 RT sport-tourer, and a roadster variant, the R 1250 R. As for styling, the RS carries a sporty half-faired look, but the ergonomics are purposely intended to be closer to neutral for comfort over long riding days.
Combined with a smooth shaft final drive and responsive chassis utilizing an adjustable 45mm fork and BMW Paralever rear suspension, the RS delivers a stable, comfortable, and nimble ride. Its adjustable windscreen is intended to supply riders of different sizes with greater on-road comfort while two selectable ride modes, antilock brakes, stability control, hill-start control, LED lighting, and Bluetooth connectivity to a revised TFT display give riders a suite of settings to manage a variety of road conditions.
