It's no small secret that I love all things supermoto, which is why it was no surprise when my response for chucking my water bottle across the office was "Honda has a street legal supermoto version of the CRF 450 and I can't have one."
That's because Honda's French importer Euroboost is responsible for this little slice of heaven, taking not one but three versions of Honda's 450 dirtbike and making them roadworthy.
For 2017, the Honda CRF450R got a massive overhaul, with a reworked engine, chassis, new springed fork, and electric start. They've released the R first, with the RX closed course off-road bike to follow and it seems as if the CRF450X is going sans update for 2017. It's difficult to tell given conflicting reports, but either Euroboost is making supermoto versions of all three bikes or they're doing four, a CRF450R and CRF500R and then a CRF450X and CRF500X.
The kit includes lights, a license plate bracket, signals, wheels, tires, different handguards and front fender, a digital speedo, and a new front brake featuring a 320mm wave front disc and four-piston, radially mounted calipers. The best part is it's all coming as something called an importer special, which means it could be road legal and sold as is straight from the dealer, including all of the fancy trimmings that entails like warranties and such.
Sadly, as only Euroboost has found a way to get these approved and only in France, we're stuck to ogle from afar (unless anyone wants to book a trip to France with me and rent some...and then never be allowed back).
The bikes are priced at €11,299 for the CRF450R version and €10,999 for the other versions, ostensibly because they don't get the new motor
