AGV Sport likes to say its products are "tested by riders." To prove their point they rounded up a select group of motorcycle journalists for a 3 day adventure bike off-road ride in northern Baja, Mexico. This wonderful boondoggle is a semi-regular event of the American distributor of AGV Sport, Motonation. Sure, they could just put new goodies in the mail with a nice little press release and say, "Have a nice weekend." But where's the fun in that? Instead they enticed us to head south of the border for tacos, dusty trails, and the opportunity to sample their new Sareno adventure riding jacket.
The 3/4 length canvas jacket is permanently lined with Reissa, a waterproof inner membrane, and includes a removable thermal liner. The conservatively styled jacket is loaded with standard features such as CE1 elbow and shoulder armor, front chest vents, rear exhaust vent, soft neoprene collar, and adjustable waist straps. Its handsome look and comfortably snug fit are available in 2 colors, Sand and Stone Wash Black, with adjustable waist and dual sleeve gather straps. All of the armor can be upgraded to CE2 standards with accessory pieces from another Motonation brand, Forcefield Body Armour.
Upgrading to the Forcefield Isolator 2 back armor at $59 would be a major improvement over the standard 10mm standard back pad. What might be the most impressive feature is the $199 price - downright remarkable in a marketplace full of $500 plus jackets with many of the same features. Salsa stain not included.
