2024 Bimota KB4.Bimota

Overview

Bimota has always been known for building unique and high-performance chassis and stuffing them with engines from various Japanese and Italian machines. But since Kawasaki’s investment in the company several years ago, the company has been using Kawi’s engines exclusively. In the case of the KB4 sportbike, Kawasaki’s liquid-cooled 1,043cc inline-four that powers the Ninja 1000SX is used. In the KB4 the engine produces 142 hp at 10,000 rpm and 81.9 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. Instead of a rev-happy superbike-type powerplant, the 1043 is a torquey and smooth engine that is more reminiscent of a sport-tourer.

But then, on the flip side, is the scalpel-like Bimota chassis with a wheelbase that measures just 54.7 inches, which is considerably shorter than the Ninja 1000SX’s 56.7 and even shorter than a ZX-6R. In order to get the wheelbase down to such a short measurement, the radiator has been moved from in front of the engine to underneath the tailsection cowl.

Overall wet weight is a feathery 428 pounds. While the chassis features high-end components like Brembo Stylema radial-mount brakes, Öhlins suspension front and rear, forged aluminum O.Z. racing wheels, and piles of billet aluminum and carbon fiber (including the bodywork).

There are currently just two Bimota dealers in the US, Bimota Spirit in Raleigh, North Carolina, and EuroCycle in Las Vegas, Nevada.
