AMA Pro GNC2 competitor Charlotte Kainz suffered fatal injuries on Sunday in a crash at the Santa Rosa Mile, the final round of the 2016 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship.

Kainz, who celebrated her 20th birthday on September 20, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and lived in nearby Greenfield. She graduated from Greenfield High School and attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.

Riding a Harley-Davidson XR-750, Kainz posted the 13th-quickest lap time in practice, 41.082, and qualified 14th with a 40.053. She crashed in the second turn during her heat race. Kainz’s best finish this season was 13th at the Arizona Mile.

A GoFundMe account has been established for Kainz's father, Jack.

Heartbroken over the loss of AMA Pro Flat Track racer Charlotte Kainz. Loved that little girl. Just gave her a hug not an hour before racing. Pray with me for her Dad and our community. Thank you.
