Overview

Strip away all the modern complexities of motocross racing, and at its core, you will always find the venerable 250cc two-stroke. These quarter-liter “smokers” used to be the kings of the stadiums, the premier class of AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross. As the two-stroke was replaced by modern four-strokes, their popularity died out, but KTM is one of few manufacturers still relentlessly pushing the evolution. The 2025 KTM 250 SX is the latest from the Austrian manufacturer, with revised suspension, a reworked frame, and continuing refinement of the EFI technology.

For the 2023 model year, KTM introduced its Keihin EFI and throttle-body injection (TBI) technology to its SX line of motocross two-strokes, replacing the trusty carburetor fuel-delivery system. Through the years, the 250 SX also received electric start, selectable map switch control, Brembo clutch and brake hydraulics, and WP air fork, keeping the spirit of past motocross machines alive while evolving with the advanced technology of the sport.
