As the year comes to a close, there have been many companies who have had successful 2016 seasons and SBS Friction had its share of dominating the tracks. SBS had 20 riders pull down an amazing 60+ Championships during the season, with Gary Virgin winning 16 WERA Championships alone. In addition, 11 racers won more than one Championship and 7 Championships were won on American built Buell and EBR motorcycles.
Here is the breakdown:
- Jackson Blackmon won the Yamaha R3 Cup and Ashton Yates came in second
- Mark Heckles won the ASRA Sportbike Championship
- Brad Burns won two WERA National Championships
- Geoff May, Stefano Mesa, Drew Jankord, Chris Broome, Stephen Tsotsoros and Rayce Christiansen all won four or more Championships
- Geoff May took pole position and finished second in the Daytona 200
- Stefano Mesa won the CCS Florida overall #1 plate for the third year in a row
- Travis Wyman finished third in Moto America Superstock 600
- AMA Pro Flat Track, Jake Johnson finished fourth in the GNC1 class and Tristan Avery third in GNC2
