Editor's Note: In April 2015 Erik Buell Racing ceased operations and filed for receivership protection from creditors and the company is currently seeking creditor protection under a Wisconsin state statute that is similar to federal bankruptcy law. It is unclear at this point in the proceedings what will happen to the assets of the company, which would include any unsold motorcycles, or if those motorcycles will be sold with any warranty or parts support in the future.
Erik Buell Racing’s 1190RX is now in its second full year of production and continues on with a lower price, plus long list of features you’d expect from a bike wearing Erik Buell’s name on the fairings: a fuel-in-frame chassis, stout frame spars for increased torsional rigidity, and massive 386mm perimeter brake rotor. The 1190RX also comes with EBR’s 21-setting traction control system and in Strike Yellow, Racing Red, or Galactic Black colors.
The 1190SX takes everything that Erik Buell Racing has learned in developing the RX and applies it to a naked model with upright riding position and wider handlebar for nimble handling. Similar to the RX, the 1190SX features such innovations as fuel in the frame, hubless wheels, perimeter brake rotor for less unsprung mass, and EBR’s Controlled Swirl Induction (CSI), which improves power and fuel economy while lowering exhaust emissions.
