If you'd have asked us last week if Yamaha's 2015 R1 could get any better, we'd have said no.
Of course, before then we hadn't seen photos of Josh Hayes' and Cameron Beaubier's Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha R1 superbikes painted up in a special yellow-and-black livery for the final round of the 2015 MotoAmerica championship. Yeah, as it turns out, the R1 is even better with a little history painted on its fairings. We'll take two, please...
Actually, that might be possible next year, with Yamaha's United Kingdom site recently releasing photos of a 2016 R1 in special 60th Anniversary graphics. No word from Yamaha Motor Corporation USA if this will in fact be an option for 2016 R1s headed for US shores, or how much extra the graphics would cost. If it is in fact an option, all we can say is take our money now—it doesn't get any better than this.
