Hot summer days inevitably mean sweat underneath your riding gear, with riders in perspiration-soaked T-shirts flailing their arms in the parking lot as they try to shuck off jackets with inner liners that are stuck to their sweaty limbs.
The Cortech Journey Coolmax base-layer shirt not only eases jacket removal, but it keeps you cooler and dryer than a T-shirt. Made with Coolmax, a synthetic mesh fabric with excellent moisture-wicking properties and airflow, the Journey Coolmax base-layer shirt has a lightweight, slim-fit design with four-way stretch mesh sides to ensure flexibility for varying body sizes and movements. Likewise, flatlock seams are used throughout the garment to eliminate chafing.
The Journey Coolmax shirt (we opted for the mock neck version to prevent leather collar chafing) worked well under any jacket we tried it with, keeping us cooler and dryer than any cotton-based material, especially in areas of the jacket where little airflow is present. The shirt was comfortable to wear and allowed easy movement inside the jacket, with the added bonus of making the jacket more comfortable to wear. Taking off any jacket was made far easier, since the jacket liner basically slides past the Journey Coolmax shirt instead of sticking to your sweaty skin. And for you macho types, the shirt doesn’t have that skin-tight Lycra look. In our opinion, a good deal at $38.99. Available in sizes XS–3XL.
