New Team Hero EBR rider Niccolò Canepa has just given EBR fans some hope worth clinging onto. Recently, at a test for the 2015 World Superbike Championship, the 26-year-old Italian—and former Ducati MotoGP test rider—shattered the Jennings GP track record by a claimed 0.7 seconds, aboard a Team Hero EBR 1190RX.
According to a press release issued by the team, Canepa's flying lap was done aboard one of Larry Pegram's 1190RX superbikes with WSBK-spec suspension and Pirelli tires. "I was surprised how comfortable he was on the bike so quickly," says Larry Pegram, the new Hero EBR team manager and rider. "[Canepa] was fast right from the get-go," he adds.
If you want to see what a fast lap around Jennings GP looks like (these laps are in the 1:14 range, while the new record is set at a 1.12.3, according to the YouTube post), hit the play button on the video above. It's a bit long, but we guarantee there's enough tire sliding to keep you entertained from start to finish. EBR fan or not.
