A look at Roger Hayden and Jake Lewis' new MotoAmerica Superbikes

Yoshimura Suzuki unveiled the team's 2016 livery for the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship at the official pre-season test at the Circuit of The Americas, March 23-24. The design for the team this year more closely aligns with the livery of the Team Suzuki Ecstar GSX-RR MotoGP machine and some of the production versions of Suzuki’s GSX-R models. “This distinctive color scheme will certainly allow fans to immediately identify that the motorcycle they are looking at is a Suzuki and it’s important for us to build brand recognition by making our race bikes look very similar in appearance to not only Suzuki’s MotoGP machine, but the street version of the GSX-R as well,” said Don Sakakura, Senior Vice President of Yoshimura R&D of America.Photo Courtesy of Yoshimura Suzuki
Roger Hayden is hungrier than ever to get his first Superbike win for the Yoshimura squad. He came so close multiple times last season to breaking Monster Graves Yamaha sweep of the season. After the first day of testing, the youngest Hayden brother was pleased overall. "We got up to speed fairly quick so I'm pretty happy with the way the day ended up," he said. "I'm already pretty close to the lap times I did last year at the race and I'm well under last year's test time so it seems to be good. I feel like we've got a good start this afternoon and I used some old tires at a pretty consistent pace. I just have to keep improving."Photo Courtesy of Yoshimura Suzuki
Hayden's young teammate Jake Lewis was on hand at the COTA test for the team unveiling and photos, but unfortunately was sidelined from on-track action with a shoulder injury. Lewis hurt his shoulder in a training incident late this February. His return at this time is still unknown.Photo Courtesy of Yoshimura Suzuki
Filling in for the injured Lewis at the pre-season test was former Moto2 Champion Toni Elias. The Spaniard was only contracted for the COTA test, but after a strong showing in second place on the final day of testing, Elias hopes to race the first two rounds of the season at COTA and Road Atlanta.Photo Courtesy of Yoshimura Suzuki
