This is not an April Fools’ joke: Honda’s ADV150 scooter is coming to the US as a 2021 model. An amalgamation of an adventure motorcycle and scooter, the ADV150 has already achieved success in overseas markets. North American riders will now finally get their hands on what looks to be an entertaining and capable scooter. Honda describes it as having a “city adventure” design. Whatever it is, it looks like a blast.
“What do you get when you combine an Africa Twin and a PCX150? We weren’t sure, but we knew it sounded like fun!” American Honda’s Manager of Experiential Marketing/Public Relations Chris Cox laughed. “Seriously, more than any other powersports manufacturer, Honda has a record of success with fun, unique scooters and small motorcycles, and the ADV150 promises to carry on that tradition.”
Tradition with an untraditional scooter—especially when it comes to suspension. Twin Showa remote reservoir rear shocks with triple-rate springs provide 4.7 inches of travel for when the asphalt turns to gravel. A 31mm Showa fork supplies 5.1 inches of travel to the 110/80-14 tire. A 13-inch tire is fit to the rear. Powering the ADV150 is a 149cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-stroke engine. Clutching and drive to the rear wheel is through Honda’s automatic V-Matic belt-drive transmission.
Creature comforts include a two-position-adjustable windshield, a weather-resistant 27-liter underseat storage compartment, a 2-liter front-storage compartment with 12V charging port, and Smart Key system with theft deterrence.
The 2020 Honda ADV150 is set to arrive in dealers in June 2020. MRSP with ABS as standard is $4,299.
