The 2022 BMW R 18 B is the Bavarian brand’s second take at the American cruiser market following the initial launch of the base-model R 18 last year. At the heart of each is the 1,802cc or 110ci horizontally opposed boxer twin engine that sends these motorcycles down the road.
Horsepower and torque figures on the 2022 BMW R 18 B First Edition.
Prior to an upcoming comparison test with American V-twin competitors, we strapped our BMW R 18 B dressed in its optional, up-spec First Edition kit to our in-house Dynojet 250i dynamometer, recording horsepower and torque figures. The Bavarian behemoth produced 81.51 hp at 4,560 rpm and 106.93 pound-feet of torque at 2,860 rpm. The graph illustrates serious torque figures: Nearly 100 pound-feet available at roughly 1,250 rpm and only tapering below that threshold at 4,500 rpm. So there’s a broad, flat torque delivery across the majority of its claimed 5,500 rpm maxim revs.
