The 2022 Honda CB500X is a friendly commuter with an adventure-bike twist, utilizing Big Red’s versatile midsize platform.
Powering the CB500X is Honda’s 471cc DOHC parallel twin engine, which is also seen in the standard CB500F and supersport-minded CBR500R variants. For 2022, the CB’s handling is improved with a 41mm Showa Big Piston Fork inverted fork that replaces a conventional fork and a secondary front brake caliper.
Ahead of an upcoming first ride review of the updated 2022 CB500X, we placed it on the Cycle World Dynojet 250i dyno, recording horsepower and torque figures. The CB500X produced 42.62 hp at 8,430 rpm and 29.26 pound-feet of torque at 6,520 rpm. A flat torque curve with over 25 pound-feet readily available from 2,500 rpm and linear power delivery with little over-rev makes for a flexible and friendly character in real-world situations.
