The latest iteration of the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Standard has the looks of a cruiser that’s been around for decades, but its latest manifestation is fairly new, debuting just last year. While many manufacturers aim to make their models more technologically sophisticated as the years advance, Harley took another tack with the Electra Glide Standard. This is a stripped-down dresser that proudly proclaims its relative simplicity among the tech-laden beasts of the touring cruiser segment.
The design ethos of the Electra Glide Standard is no-frills. It only comes in black, has no infotainment or Bluetooth, doesn’t come with ABS in standard trim, and only sports a single seat unless upgrades are purchased. This was like a breath of fresh air to our testers when we first approached the EGS for a ride. The simplicity of build also makes it one of Harley’s most affordable touring cruisers, with a starting MSRP of $18,999. Harley previously released the EGS in 2007 but the public wasn’t quite ready for the package. The company believed the market had changed enough by 2019 to bring it back, appealing to riders eager for a lighter-duty touring machine with plenty of customization potential.
No updates to the Electra Glide Standard for 2020.
