Joining the KLX250 and KLR650 in Kawasaki’s dual sport motorcycle lineup for 2020 is the KLX230. According to Kawasaki, the KLX230 is intended for younger, less experienced riders who are on a budget, and experienced street riders seeking a new off-road experience with a smaller-displacement bike.
We tested the 2020 Kawasaki KLX230 for the first time at the intro for the bike in Jacksonville, Oregon. Off-road editor Andrew Oldar enjoyed riding it both on and off road. “The KLX230 is plenty capable in stock trim and an ideal bike for a casual dual sport rider to use around town and explore mild trails and fire roads.”
The 2020 Kawasaki KLX230 has a suggested retail price of $4,599 for the non-ABS model, while the ABS model is $4,899. Some competitors of the KLX230 are the 2020 Suzuki DR200S and the 2020 Yamaha TW200.
Being that the KLX230 is a new model to Kawasaki’s lineup in 2020, it is technically all-new. It shares similarities with the KLX230R—an off-road-only model of the same displacement.
