Three years after Europe, the US market will finally welcome Yamaha’s entry-level naked bike, the 2020 Yamaha MT-03. This smaller-displacement model completes the tuning fork company’s “Masters of Torque” lineup, equipped with the same 321cc parallel twin used in the YZF-R3 supersport model. The MT-03 takes after its larger siblings with taller handlebars, bar-mounted mirrors, and LED lighting, as well as unique bodywork that includes a wide-shouldered fuel tank with lightweight air scoops. This is a hyper naked in a compact package.
The Yamaha MT-03’s competition includes the KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, Husqvarna’s Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401s, and Kawasaki Z400. The 2020 MT-03 has a price tag of $4,599 MSRP, which saves a few hundred bucks against the competition. For example, the 2020 CB300R comes in at $4,949 and the 2020 Z400 at $4,999.
The 2020 Yamaha MT-03 enters the US market as an all-new model, finally making its way stateside after a successful run in foreign markets.
