2022 Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition and Tuono 660 Factory

Two upgraded models of Aprilia’s sporty parallel twins

Pricing and availability have not been announced for the 2022 Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition that celebrates the model’s MotoAmerica championship.Aprilia

Aprilia’s RS 660 dominated MotoAmerica’s Twin Cup 2021, and the brass in Noale are so proud of it that they’re celebrating the championship by issuing a limited-edition model. This special 1,500-unit run is clearly identified by special graphics inspired by Old Glory.

On the technical side, the bike receives a larger fairing for better aerodynamics, a single seat with a racing-style cowl, and a special version of Aprilia’s quickshifter allowing riders to easily set the shifting sequence according to their preference; no special parts are needed to go from standard to GP shift.

Each RS 660 Limited Edition will be numbered; 1,500 units will be available.Aprilia

More substantial is the upgraded 660 Tuono in its new Factory Edition guise. The engine remains unchanged, with a claimed 100 hp and 42 pound-feet of torque, but the bike’s already excellent chassis has been further refined. At the front there’s now a 41mm Kayaba fork, fully adjustable for compression, rebound, and preload. The same goes for the new Sachs rear shock absorber, which features a separate reservoir of compressed nitrogen.

The 2022 Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory gets fully adjustable suspension, a six-axis IMU, a lithium-ion battery, and adaptive LED headlights.Aprilia

A lithium-ion battery replaces the standard lead-acid unit, saving 4.4 pounds to further enhance the little Tuono’s power-to-weight ratio. A 16-tooth front sprocket (one less than the standard Tuono) means a livelier final ratio and enhanced response from the 270-degree parallel twin.

The electronic suite is one of the most advanced in its class, using an as-standard six-axis inertial platform (a $200 option on the base Tuono 660) managing all major riding and safety functions, including cornering ABS; traction control; wheelie control; and five riding modes, three for the road and two for the track. Adaptive LED headlights, which Aprila calls Bending Lights, add a final high-end touch and make for safer night riding.

Weight has been shaved from the 2002 Tuono 660 Factory, a 4.4-pound total savings.Aprilia

Pricing and availability of both models will be announced at a later date.
