Axell “Slay” Hodges is only 21 years old, but he’s quickly becoming one of the biggest names in freestyle motocross. He’s incredibly active on social media and his frequent posts ripping minibikes, jumping Timbersleds, and throwing huge whips on his motocross bikes garnered almost half a million Instagram followers.
His X Games debut in June 2016 saw him take silver in the best whip competition and eighth in the step-up competition, and he released his first Dirt Shark film Slayground months later—a video that amassed 2.5 million views.
Hodges is back with a second video, in which he maintains the irreverent attitude that’s earned him thousands of fans—only this time adding the world’s first motorcycle halfpipe to the mix.
Hodges’ talent is undeniable and his approach is bringing life into a sport that’s been ignored since many of the big names who made it popular (Travis Pastrana, Brian Deegan, etc.) have retired.
